You can find out about public transport to the Airport site via www.skylink.co.uk or call traveline on 0870 608 2 608.
If you are travelling from Swadlincote www.arrivabus.co.uk
This is a Department for Transport mandate. This means that you must provide evidence of your whereabouts over the past five years. This will include all jobs, education, and/or training.
You should ask your local Job Centre Plus to provide a letter to state the dates of your unemployment. If you were unemployed due to an illness or injury, you should also provide evidence of this either via a Job Centre Plus letter or a Doctors letter.
If your job is classed as 'Airside' that is anything past Security you will be asked to provide a current Standard Criminal Record Bureau Check.Your CRB will show up any ‘unspent’ convictions. You will not be offered an 'airside' based job if you have any 'unspent' convictions. This is a Department for Transport Regulation.
To Ascertain whether your conviction is spent will depend on the type of sentence you were given, not on the offence. To check whether your conviction is spent or unspent you can either check with The Home Office or for online information see: www.crb.gov.uk/default.aspx
Speak to Job Centre Plus about this. If you have been out of work for six months or more you can be referred to a training provider who will assist you with things like application form filling and interview techniques.
It is sometimes harder to gain references from agencies, however you only need a reference to say that you were working for them from date A to date B. Which should be easily found within their own data.
It is normal for the candidate to source their own references. However you may be able to gain assistance from a training provider if you are long term unemployed.
We are able to provide NVQ training and Skills for Life courses on site. If you have less than five GCSE’s A-C or ‘O’ Level Equivalents then your course is fully funded. Skills For Life (English and Maths) are available on Tuesdays at the Airport Administration building 34.
